Product Description

Product Description
The wickedly funny new novel from the bestselling author of CHAPATTI OR CHIPS? Kareena is understandably nervous on her wedding night, when she will make love to her husband for the first time - but at least she knows her parents have chosen well. Samir is goodlooking, gentle and considerate - and, although she's met him only a few times, Kareena is confident she will grow to love him. But Samir has a secret. A secret in the shapely form of Cloey whom he's been dating for the past six years. And Cloey isn't prepared to give up her man - or, more importantly, his bank balance without a fight. And she's prepared to fight very dirty indeed. But Kareena is not the timid little Indian bride Cloey had expected her to be. In fact, Cloey might just have met her match.

About the Author
In her early thirties, Nisha Minhas lives in Milton Keynes with her partner and cats. A former employee of the Inland Revenue and an avid reader, Nisha couldn't find any novels that really appealed to her, a young British woman born in the UK of Indian parents. So she bravely left her job, determined to write the book that she herself would love to read. The result was Nisha's first novel: the hilarious CHAPATTI OR CHIPS?

1.0 out of 5 stars are you joking?, 28 April 2004
By A Customer
This is an awful book, I love Asian fiction and am dying to read moreabout 2nd generations so I thought this would be a good pick. Thecharacters are pathetic and have no development they are unreal and theiractions make no sense. As a career minded Asian women I could not relateto Kareena at all who is meant to be all innocent, what a joke. I thinkthis book really plays on stereotypes and the characters are either stupidor evil. It portrays women who have no ambition or brains and makes uslook like we all need man or we can't cope on our own. I don't thinkMinhas has a handle on British Asians today and who and what they are andthe challenges they face. Sorry but I was hoping for more, and the sexcontent is what makes this sell, how unfortunate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unforgettably Fantastic., 20 May 2004
By A Customer
I loved this book and it was a joy to read. I'm a British Asian and get sick of the old-fashioned Asians afraid to read the truth. This book, even though it is as funny as hell, tells the truth about Indian culture, which is obviously a little too close to home for some reviewers. This is the first Asian book that I have read that speaks honestly about arranged marriages, Asian home life and the Indian way. I think the author is very brave to speak out about topics that some people would rather were left untold. The plot is great, the twists are superb, the writing is frank. Well done Nisha!!! I look forward to Passion and Poppadoms as do most of my Asian friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sari and Sins and all things tabooo, 18 Jul 2003
By A Customer
So i went into the bookshop for usual stint of looking in the top 10 bestsellers for any books by asian authors. Where I suddenly spot Sari and Sins. I had read Nisha' Minhas's previous novel "Chapatti and Chips" and knew that this book would probably be as funny and outragous.

Slightly embarressed by its title and cover i sat down to read it on my tube ride home, and hence my journey through all things taboo began...

WOWIE what a great book - from page to page i had many laffs and could relate to it from the indian point of view. It is one of those books that you keep reading paragraphs from to friends and family.

A wonderful blend of fantastic story line, comedy, sex, love & arranged marriages.

I can't recommend it enough - a true barrel of laffs!!!
