Product Description

Product Description
New York Times bestselling author Richard Knaak writes of a Sorceror's search for wealth in a once magical, mysterious lost city...After a lifetime of research and calculation, the Vizerei sorcerer Quov Tsin, thinks he has figured out the secret behind the ruins of the lost city of Ureh. He hires a pack of mercenaries from the West and they set out to search for the wealth of the fabled city - the riches and knowledge that disappeared without a trace along with the people of the ancient city, where mighty sorcerers once sought to gain entrance to Heaven itself. His calculations prove correct and phantoms soon begin to appear in the darkened city. Before long, the ruins return to life, but not as the Mecca they imagined. Instead, as the adventurers become a part of the magical life of the city, they come under the attention of its ruler, Juris Khan. Members of the party begin to disappear. Soon Tsin and the necromancer Zayl begin to suspect the horrible truth, that the quest for Heaven led the ancient sorcerers, and their city, not to Heaven but to Hell...and thanks to their own interference, no barrier will bar the possesed denizens way back into the natural world.

4.0 out of 5 stars not a lost cause then, 10 Jul 2009
By DanT (wales) - See all my reviews
This is definately a big improvemennt on lagacy of blood, stronger story line stonger characters, more intrigue, more action, more tension, more of everything realy.
Having said that though it could still be better, it is a little predictable, as are many fantasy books when you read a lot of them, and i just feel that it all could be that little bit punchier. Tension higher action longer, more intrigue and less predictability.
I think legacy of blood and this book would of benefitted by being longer every time something of interest starts to happen it feels a bit cut short very much like the books are written to order rather than to be better fiction. Still worth a read but don't expect too much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two in a row! Richard Knaak does it again!, 11 April 2006
I first read Richard Knaak in Legacy of Blood (Diablo series 1). I loved that book for the story and the way it was told. Mel Odom almost cost Diablo a fan when he came out with the extremely boring The Black Road. But Richard Knaak is back and the Diablo legacy seems to be in safe hands once more.
Like Legacy of Blood, Knaak grabs hold of your imagination and doesn't let go until the end. This book shows all the hallmarks of Knaak's superb storytelling.
The world of sorcery, warriors and monsters is brought to life in the story about a legendary kingdom which supposedly ascended to the heavens through the piousness of it's lords and the magic of it's sorcerers. A band of adventurers - a Vizjerei sorcerer and his hired mercenaries find themselves in the middle of an unlikely adventure with an unusual companion - a Necromancer of the order of Rathma.
Sublime adventure that you'll never want to end! If you like the bestselling game Diablo, if you like medieval fantasy, if you like adventure of any sort, you'll enjoy this book.
Don't waste any more time reading this review. Instead get your hands on a copy of the book and entrust your reading time in the capable hands of Richard Knaak.
