Product Description

Product Description

No one knew who she was, where she came from, or why she had entered their lives. All they really knew about her was that she possessed a terrifying beauty and that each time she appeared, a man died in a particularly horrible way. A reissue from one of the masters of the genre noir.

About the Author

Cornell Woolrich, along with Raymond Chandler and James M. Cain, was one of the creators of the noir genre. He is the author of many seminal works including REAR WINDOW, the basis of the 1954 Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece starring James Stewart and Grace Kelly.

5.0 out of 5 stars From the Creator of "Rear Window", 15 May 2002
By swanstand72@yahoo.com (The Big Swamp, Florida) - See all my reviews
An expertly handled thriller with a highly original structure and presentation. I was extremely disappointed with how poorly the movie version adapted this novel (the film actually blows the surprise ending in the opening 10 minutes.) The novel however is a brilliant testament to one of the great-lost American crime writers. Not as acerbic as Jim Thompson, but with a similar view that we are all capable of good and evil depending on which way our lives go. Read this then go read Phantom Lady, you will not be disappointed.
Oh and an original Steranko cover on the I-books reissue only adds to this books class.
