Product Description

Product Description

From its first arrival in Britain, with the Norman forces of William the Conqueror, violence and revenge are the cursed sword's constant companions. From an election-rigging scandal in 13th century Venice to the battlefield of Poitiers in 1356, as the Sword of Shame passes from owner to owner in this compelling collection of interlinked mysteries, it brings nothing but bad luck and disgrace to all who possess it.

About the Author

BERNARD KNIGHT, a senior Home Office pathologist, is the author of nine books in the CROWNER JOHN series. MICHAEL JECKS is the author of the TEMPLAR series, which describes life among the Devon peasants under King Edward II. Former police officer SUSANNA GREGORY's novels feature MATTHEW BARTHOLOMEW, a Cambridge physician in the period immediately after the Black Death. Cornwall-based IAN MORSON is the author of the FALCONER series, and PHILIP GOODEN writes Shakespearean murder mysteries.

4.0 out of 5 stars MIxed feelings about this one, 19 Oct 2008
A group of historical mystery writers each write a linked section of a tale about a sword. Unlike the first story by this group, The Tainted Relic, the mixture of styles doesn't jar and if you're a dedicated fan of the authors characters, you'll enjoy meeting them at different stages of the plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Historical Mystery Series, 30 Aug 2007
By P. Schaum "prussblue" (St. Louis area, MO USA) - See all my reviews

Trying to keep it simple, anything that Michael Jecks and Bernard Knight contribute to are worth reading. This is true not only of style, but the fact that they are most conversant with the historical period that they write about and the mysteries that they interject.
