Product Description

Product Description

For more than ten years, Mitch Rapp has been on the frontline of the War against Terror. His bold actions have saved the lives of thousands - but in the process his list of enemies has grown inexorably. There are even those within his own government who would like to see him eliminated. Thousands of miles away, the influential father of a dead terrorist demands retribution for the death of his son at the hands of the infidels. He wants Rapp dead - and his hate-filled plea has found sympathetic ears. In the tangled, duplicitous world of espionage, there are those, even among America's allies, who feel Rapp has grown too effective. They've been looking for an excuse to eliminate America's No.1 counterterrorism operative - and they've decided to seize the chance. The Hunter has become the Hunted. A tragedy of unimaginable proportions is about to befall Mitch Rapp - and he must use all his cunning, skill and ruthless determination to stay alive and seek vengeance against the traitor who would bring him down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good one!, 22 Oct 2005
Flynn my not be my favorite thriller author, but he maybe the most consistent. You can always count on an entertaining and insightful thrill ride with plenty of action, and you can't beat Mitch Rapp for a leading man (to bad all the old school Hollywood actors are too old or dead, as I don't think any of this generations actors have the Macho cool to portray Rapp).

In this outing the stakes continue to rise for our hero Rapp. There is a Bounty on his head placed by a rich Saudi looking for revenge! He also has an Ex East German spy and a husband and wife assassin team to deal with. To top it all off his wife Anna is going to have a baby. Oh Yeah Mitch also has to have knee surgery! If it was anybody but Rapp you'd say hang it up! There is one great scene where Rapp teaches a Belt way bureaucrat some manners---its awesome!

All in all this is another Flynn page turner with plenty of action, twists and turns, and a pretty good ending. For more thrills and adventure with a twist, I recommend you check out the underground hit "Tourist in the Yucatan."

4.0 out of 5 stars Mitch Rapp Becomes the Prey, 23 Feb 2006
By Professor Donald Mitchell "Jesus Makes Me a P... (Boston) - See all my reviews
(TOP 10 REVIEWER)
In the tangled world of terrorists, our "friends" can be our worst enemies. Those with careful memories recall that 9/11 was primarily executed by middle class Saudi citizens . . . with nary an Iraqi in sight. Consent to Kill carefully explores that duality of role among leading Saudi citizens in a way that will leave most people wondering if we really have things under control.

Mitch Rapp becomes the target of a Saudi billionaire after the billionaire's soon was captured and killed by Mitch. With the connivance of a member of the King's family, top talent is recruited to do the dirty deed. At the same time, Mitch is facing up to some surprises. He's slowing down and starting to take married life more seriously. Where will it all lead? As you can imagine there are a lot of bangs and flashes involved.

Most action thrillers are pretty much interchangeable. Vince Flynn has risen above such clichés in this novel by using unusual circumstances to reveal the character of Mitch Rapp. It's rare to find a book about assassins that explores their motives and feelings about their work. Most assassins are simply described as sick people or not developed psychologically.

The book's basic premise is that being on the receiving end of murderous intentions will change a man. And that point is certainly right. How being hunted changes Mitch Rapp makes for a good story.

Unfortunately, many of the other characters in the book are simply caricatures of the types we all love to hate. That makes much of the book's oversimplifications into intentional satire. If those elements had been edited down about 30%, for me this would have been a much more entertaining book.

As it was, the plot kept taking me places I didn't expect to go, and I enjoyed the trip. Nice book!

Mitch Rapp fans will definitely want to read this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Cracking Read!, 13 Oct 2005
By Mike Clarke (Bristol, UK) - See all my reviews
If you've enjoyed previous Vince Flynn books, you will enjoy this one. If it's your first Vince Flynn book, I recommend you read at least one of the earlier ones as they set the scene for this book.

Whilst maintaining many elements of the previous books - namely plenty of action, fights and plot twists - this book also develops the characters in ways the previous books did not.

Upon reading the book, you feel like you know WHY Mitch Rapp became the assassin he did, why he chose to live the life he does.

There is also a development at the end of the book which I shall only say was interesting (I didn't see it coming!)

A good read.
