Product Description

Review
Francis King Former president of PEN International Jeffrey Meyers is a literary truffle-hound, coming up in each of his biographies with hitherto unknown facts and original insights. His "Inherited Risk" contains an abundance of these. It also has all the psychological complexity and narrative flair of a first-class novel.

Synopsis
A dual portrait of the Hollywood actor and his son identifies the similarities in their personalities, chronicling first the life of Errol, including the reckless behavior that led to his early demise, and continuing with Sean's experiences, from his obsession about his father to his capture by the Vietcong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well researched biography. Recommended, 4 Jun 2002
By A Customer
Over the years Errol Flynn has been poorly served by his biographers, particularly in comparison to the likes of Bogart and Cary Grant. Myers has done a first class job in putting this right. The book is well researched and treats its subject sympathetically while at the same time, not attempting to gloss over Flynn's considerable character flaws. The section of the book devoted to Sean is similarly enlightening, casting his own actions in the light of his father's. It's a first class book and certainly the best biography of Errol written to date.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like father, like son, 15 May 2009

(REAL NAME)
Two biographies in one, and about larger than life characters a generation apart from each other. Episodic, it never drags and objectively tells the stories of strange and doomed angels.
