5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant, 16 May 2004
By hannah moreton (ringwood, dorset United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Second Time Around (Paperback)
This is one of the best crime novels, I have ever read. It is gripping from start to finish, Leaves you unable to put it down. Another fantastic book, by Higgins Clark, a brilliant and spell bounding writer. Truly a wonderful book, and has inspired me to read more in her collection.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mary Higgins Clarke - Second Time Around., 6 Feb 2004
This review is from: The Second Time Around (Paperback)
Mary Higgins Clarke writes exceptionally well and this is reflected in her book 'Second Time Around'. Each chapter flows and secures an easy read. Characters are intriguing and the storyline is impressive. However, at moments I found the book tedious as it becomes more and more repetitive. A subtantial part of the book focuses on 'Carly', (the main character), attending meetings and juggling the possibilities of whether her step-sisters' husband is dead or not. I found this part of the book bland and long winded. However, Mary Higgins Clarke does seem to be 'clued up' on the financial/medical world of today and suceeds in providing a wide range of characters that add extra interest to parts of the book.
However, if I were to put this book into a genre I would not know where to put it; but one thing's for sure, I would not call it a thriller.

4.0 out of 5 stars A real pageturner, 14 Feb 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Second Time Around (Paperback)
I've just finished reading all of Minette Walters books and picked this one up almost at random. That was less than a week ago so it's certainly one you can't put down.
I found the characters believable, and the plot exciting. Definitely worth a read, keeps you guessing until the last few pages.
