I was dissapointed with this book. It' s not only the fault of the author, but also the lack of the synopsis. I wanted to read a book about the Paris metro. I bought this book because of somewhat misleading title. This is not a book about metro. It's about origins of station names in Paris. Not a word about metro itself, its past and present. I wanted some stories about the times in the beginning of XX century when it was built. Got explanation of station names. I give two stars, because there are some anegdotes from the past that are amusing or funny (it should be 1 star). But the book, even if I would be interested in origins of the name is badly written. I should say isn't written at all. Of course the author did a lot of work searching through books. But after, just put informations in her book one after another in a very scholar and rather boring way. I love Paris, read everything but couldn't fight with this book - my first unread book about paris..
