Despite the idea espoused in the Little White Book, this deck is firmly based in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition. There are some nods to the Thoth deck, mostly in the minor arcane, with the pips arranged in a similar fashion to the Thoth deck. There are similar nods to the Marseilles deck.

The artwork is generally good, if a little on the twee side. An idea I especially liked is used in the World/Temperance/Chariot triad where Temperance has one white wing and one black wing, echoing the white and black horses of the Chariot, and the central character of the World wears a robe red on one side and white on the other.

Like all of Lo Scarabeo's decks, each card bears its title in six different languages. The reverse of the cards is perfectly symmetrical indicating that the deck is intended to support reversals.

My problem with this edition is the packaging and the embroidered velvet bag. The bag feels cheap and nasty and is too big for the cards. The bag and the cards fit into an oversized box. At first I tried keeping the cards in the box, which in turn I kept in the bag. The LWB quickly sustained damage.

My advice is to forget this edition: the bag is not essential. If I were to use this deck as a working deck, rather than a collector's deck, I would go for the edition without the bag. At the time of writing, the difference in price between the two is only 64p, which, frankly, over-values the bag! One star deducted for the "luxury" packaging.
