Product Description

Product Description

Flex your creative muscles by exploring how Photoshop can unlock your creative potential. Traditional artists porting their skills to new media and inexperienced digital artists need to learn how to approach their work using digital tools--especially Photoshop--rather than relying solely on paper and pencil methods of conceptualization. While there are books that walk users through tool sets or recipes for effects, none of these books focus on enhancing the creative process. Steuer explores the many facets of the creative process and underscores how they can be incorporated into the workflow of the digital artist.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing read with no really useful tips, 14 Mar 2003
This book contains nothing new - nothing revolutionary - no cool tricks - and no mouthwatering imagery.
It is simply 220 pages of boring rambling about the authors paintings, and digital works.

If you already own one to two even moderately good books on Photoshop, this one will teach you nothing new. If you don't then this one will only disappoint you, because it will not teach you to do anything special.

The book is badly organised, and keeps jumping back and forth between desribing "realworld" art (with brushes & paint) and digital art.

I realize that the appreciation of art is very individual, but if you want inspiration for art - buy an art-book. If you want a book that will teach you Photoshop, buy a proper photoshop-book.
This one tries to be both, but is neither!
