I'm responsible for our SharePoint search from the business rather than IT perspective. A good percentage of this book was valuable to a non-developer, particularly one who is happy to skip over chunks of code. I've seen and heard a lot of waffle about what SharePoint search does and doesn't do, so it was great to get some solid answers.

This is the only book I have seen that covers all aspects of the SharePoint 2007 search engine. The book is an ideal reference for anybody that want to learn about how use, customize and administrate the search engine.

The book includes also more complex topics such as using facetted search and the search API.
