4.0 out of 5 stars A quick run through, 22 Dec 2004
By Mr. R. Ives (UK) - See all my reviews

A quick run through of the new features to SQL Server 2005. I read this cover to cover in about 6 hours, so there's not anything in there to tax the brain. I've been using SQL Server since version 6.5, so for someone with little knowledge of SQL Server, it might take a bit longer. I'm now reading the 'First Look at SQL Server for Developers' which gives a much more in-depth look at 2005. I'd recommend this book to give you a quick insight, but then definitely get the other book. The Introducing book will be left on my bookshelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent start point, 12 Dec 2005
By Mr. G. D. J. Morris "gazzamoz" (Bournemouth) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book is the perfect start point for SQL server 2005. It covers the main topics to just the right amount of depth giving you an insight into what is possible in this new release without waffling on too much. There is a lot of text, but its full of information rather than the usual Microsoft style book which reads more like a bed time story, "once upon a time there was a computer, waffle, waffle, waffle" (you get my point).
This book is definately the place to start if you're thinking of exploring SQL server 2005. This is also the first decent MS press book I've ever read!
