Product Description

Product Description

Many pen-based software platforms have been introduced in the last decade, but only recently has the introduction of faster processors and hardware enabled mainstream introduction of tablet-sized pen-based PCs. This book tackles the challenge of writing compelling Tablet PC software on two fronts. First, it distills decades of usability research into pen-based computing to present an authoritative discussion of the optimal design of pen-based user interfaces. Second, it provides an in-depth exposition of the Tablet PC Ink SDK, complete with tips and tricks on how developers can produce the most powerful and natural ink-aware applications. Distills decades of usability research into pen-based software to present an authoritative discussion of the optimal design of pen-based user interfaces Provides an in-depth exposition of the TabletPC Ink SDK, complete with tips and tricks on how developers can produce the most powerful and natural pen-based, ink-aware applications Co-written by the lead software developer on the Microsoft TabletPC team

5.0 out of 5 stars Explaining the Tablet PC, its applications and enrolment, 7 Oct 2003
What make me think about this book? Rob Jarret and Phillip Su have written the first-ever book covering the Tablet PC-applications in a myopic sense. As a technical writer, I am dependant on how technical gadgets work and it has been interesting to be an early-diver into Tablet PC's functional behaviour.

The first two chapters deliberately covers the historical part of the Tablets, and pursue with "digital ink". Chapter 3, 4 and 5 reveals the mystery of Ink controls, environmental requirements and how to develop and deploy small pen-based applications on your Tablet PC. The rest of this book depicts the configuration of the Tablet PC Platform and its SDK. A nice deal of bodywork for developers who wants to tailor and enable applications for their business workflow. And for journalists, product spec./mgrs and technical staff members who need in-depth know-how about Tablets.

The history of Tablet PC is a perception of Microsoft.
