This package is a good way to get introduced to the features of the newest microsoft language. It comes with the Standard edition of Visual C# (which does include the VS.NET IDE). The difference between Standard and professional editions can be found easily by doing a search on groups.google.com. The book is reasonably well written and is easy to follow. It gives a detailed introduction to the data types and simple concepts involved with the semantics of the language. The examples on the CD are good, illustrating the points well. All in all a good introduction.

Originally I was going for the VB.NET version but since VB.NET and C# have come pretty close under VS.NET, I opt for this bundle. ...The software comes in four CDs, one of them contains necessary components to update your system so meeting installation requirements. I must say the packaging is rather basic (CDs wrapped in films) but that don't matter coz all the documentation is in electronic form.
.NET Framework SDK (the backbone)comes with it which saves you trouble from downloading it from the Internet. Loads of documentations including everything under .NET that you can't live without are just essential for every .NET enthusiast. The usability of the VS.NET IDE has also greatly improved since VS6. I particularly like the dynamic Help system and the code panel, where you can hide codes for better visability of the whole program.
The book is concise and you follow step by step style to build some small programs, or sometimes they just show you the code and explain syntax along the way. It does cover forms, database, xml, asp.net but doesn't go into details but it serves as an introduction. It simply "shows" you how to do. Also there's a CD with code samples. Good if you are just familiarise with the IDE. Still you might have to look into other books for in depth topics.
Overall, 5 stars at this price for sure.
