1.0 out of 5 stars Too superficial, 10 Jun 2000
By A Customer
I bought this book in conjunction with the official selfpaced training guide and failed! Neither this book nor the self-paced training guide give any real indication of the degree of complexity of the examination itself.

I studied regularly and knew well the materials as presented - frequently scoring 95%+ on the tests in this book.

Frankly, neither the self-paced training nor this book give a true indication of what you will find in the examination. The materials in this book suggest an O/A level type exam - i.e. a capacity to know the materials well with some interpretative skils - the actual examination is considerably harder requiring an interperative knowledge level more akin to first degree.

For someone who has never sat an MCP this book will present the exam format reasonably well and is useful for that - if you've already sat other MCPs this book offers nothing and you'd be better off looking elsewhere.

As a revision aid this book is useful for giving general subject headings for futher and deeper study: as an indication of likelihood of success this book should be avoided.

The blurb claims 'you get answers to the critical question "am I ready for the real exam"' - it never lives up to this claim.

Titles since suggested to me include the Fastrack Series - your money would be more wisely spent on these. I'd also recommend some of the 'braindump' sites as a more useful resource!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not very good, 21 Jun 2000
By A Customer
This book is good in identifying where you need to study further, but the questions in the exam are a lot more harder (and longer). Don't waste your money
