4.0 out of 5 stars Great starter book for people unfamiliar with VBA Excel, 15 Jul 1999
By A Customer
This was my first book I used to learn the VB intricacies of Excel. Showed me step-by-step what is possible as far as developing a user application, with a VB fueled spreadsheet. One thing that I liked was code that removed all the users toolbars (makes the visual screen area maximized) and the upon closing, puts them all back. Had results in just about a week with some help from the Microsoft news groups (Excel related). Recommended as a starter for those unfamiliar with VB or Excel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spot on! All the fundamentals you really need are here, 10 Oct 2003
By Manu "fool_o_matic" (Paris, France) - See all my reviews
What if you are a good excel user, know some very basic VBA, but only use it once in a blue moon and keep on forgetting it? What if you decide that you need to break that barrier and actully make VBA work for you without throwing too many hours learning it?

This is the book you need. No BS, assumes you know enough about Excel and doesn't waste time and ink going through the same old things. Even better, it teaches almost everything by very pertinent examples, so that in the end you end up using bits of code from the various lessons to write your own macro. And it knows what you need - this has been written by someone who actually understands what we need to get going!

I don't see the need to ever get another book on Excel VBA.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book for VBA Excel, 27 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This is an extremly good book, if (i repeat IF) you know what you are doing in excel. For instance, I was left in the deep end when I came to the chapter on pivot tables. The chapter just jumped straight into programming pivot tables. I had never used pivot tables before so this was a dissapointment. Other than that it's a good book - but i recommend that you know a couple of programming languages before.
