3.0 out of 5 stars Not really about InterDev, 1 Aug 1999
By A Customer
It is a very readable book. Going into a lot of concepts of working with existing architecture. I was expecting a deeper dealing with InterDev and was disapointed. It's not about how to use the program, more about what the program can be used for and strategies for doing that. If you want detail on the program itself, wait to get this later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, but out of date., 23 Sep 2002
By A Customer
This was one of three books I used to study for the 70-152 MCSD exam, which I'm happy to say I have now passed.

Good points :
- Written in an extremely readable style. Very user-friendly. Not crippled by the pompous, dry tone you find in so many computer manuals.
- Provides just the right amount of detail about critical areas for the 70-152 exam, especially MTS.
- Provides great background information about general web development issues that are invaluable for InterDev newbies.

Bad points:
- Written in 1998, and now a bit out of date. A revised edition for 2002 would be very welcome.
- Too much detail about areas that have no relevance to most InterDev developers. If you're studying for the 70-152 exam, the last few chapters are a complete waste of time.

My advice? Use this in conjunction with the official Microsoft InterDev study guide, and you should do just fine. The Microsoft book doesn't provide enough detail, and is rather unreadable. This one is much friendlier and much more informative. It's probably the only computer book I've read in the last year that I really felt was worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not enough depth, 13 Jan 2000
By A Customer
I am very disappointed in this book after reading the comments from previous people. I am studying for the VI 6.0 exam and was needing some material, this is a good book for a simple introduction into web apps and VI but for me it lacked alot of depth. In the end I used the MS Mastering VI series CD, in conjunction with the book (the book is the same as the cd, just handy to highlight in the book and read on the train).
