Product Description
Synopsis
Andrea Cameron arrives to take up her new post as Minister of Nyddford with Nyddbeck full of excitement and anticipation. She is determined to put the past, with its unhappy memories, behind her, and devote herself to her flock and to her marriage. But her husband is killed in a car accident on the day of her ordination, leaving many unanswered questions for Andrea to confront. Fortified by her strong faith, and by the friendship shown to her by the villagers of her parish - especially handsome Will Wensley - Andrea begins to rebuild her shattered life. But she has reckoned without the brooding, hostile presence of David Bramley, a local farmer who cannot come to terms with the loss of his own wife, and who seems determined to make life difficult for her...

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice story!, 29 Sep 2001
By MrsPatsyAnn "Housewife" (West Midlands. England) - See all my reviews
This is a nice, easy to read story, in spite of the sad elements. It's not too complex, a very relaxing read. Nothing offensive, nothing to tax the brain!!
I have a couple of smallish criticisms though. I did think, for instance, that Andrea, as a female vicar and therefore in a controversial position, was accepted in to the small village community far too easily. Only one opponent, with his anger directed against the church as a whole not necessarily at Andrea? I think not.

Also, the ending was a bit rushed with everything coming together just a bit too easily. Almost as if a time limit had been set - all had to be done and dusted within a fixed time, and suddenly the author realised she was nearly at the end of that alloted time.
Having said that, though, if it had been done differently, it might alter my earlier opinion of being a good coffee time book!!
