3.0 out of 5 stars Old fashioned and satisfying, 14 Mar 2001
By A Customer
Miss Silver is an extremely attractive though improbable detective and the reader is confident that with her in charge, though almost everyone may fall under suspicion, in the end evil will be found out and punished. Some aspects of the mystery may seem implausible, but Wentworth does not play games with the reader's emotions. As always, the response of the characters to various situations matters more than the plot, and there is quite a strong sense of the seaside home where this book takes place. Not one of the very best Miss Silver novels, but nonetheless enjoyable. My pleasure in reading the book was only spoiled by an extraordinary number of typographical errors.
