Essentially, this book is the screenplay of the Director's film, The Battle of the River Plate. It reads as if there are two different authors at work ie one minute technically correct re the warships layout etc, the next minute giving the Graf Spee four main armament turrets. It is historically correct but has a degree of dramatisation ( " the Captain's eyes flickered for a second...") so that it is a good read rather than a work of historical and maritme research
