Product Description

Synopsis

We now know that tranquillizers, sleeping pills and anti-depressants, first marketed as safe and non-addictive, are quite the reverse. Thousands of people are now hooked on them, beset with symptoms worse than they had before they started taking the tablets. Withdrawal - if not properly managed - can bring on other distressing symptoms such as panic attacks, hallucinations and insomnia. This text offers clear guidelines about how to withdraw safely.

4.0 out of 5 stars It is possible to come off Benzos, 6 April 2005
By A Customer
This book was a great help to me coming off benzos - Xanax - to which I was addicted. I had no idea when they were originally prescribed for me that they were addictive and guess what, 18 months in I couldn't stop them. The doctor, who continued to prescribe them, at no stage warned me of addiction; when my circumstances improved I thought I would just stop them, but I couldn't. This book helped and IT IS POSSIBLE! I've done it and I know that it's hard, but be encouraged - you can do it. And then life returns to normal...

5.0 out of 5 stars A good book for benzo sufferers., 21 Jan 2004
By A Customer
I bought this book while tapering from xanax. It has a great deal of info on withdrawal symptoms and explanations are sensible.

This book is a must have for those who want to get off benzos. With this book and "The accidental addict"by Di Porritt & Di Russell you have the info at hand that can help you though it.

I hope Shirley Trickett will consider a reprint of this book.
