Product Description

Product Description

This work tells the story of the persecution of Jacques Benveniste, a French scientist whose career was frustrated when he tried to expand the horizons of traditional science. His research provided an explanation for one of the great mysteries of medical science - the working of homoeopathy. This book explores the witch hunt that was carried out against Beveniste and examines the way that, historically, science has vilified those considered heretics, only to canonize them years later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating insight into the politics of research., 12 April 2001
By A Customer
The "Memory of Water" provides a compelling view of the political machinations that control modern day researchers who are funded through grants. Jacques Benveniste is a french researcher. His research in the area of extreme homeopathic dilutions in Water has been judged by the research establishment to be politically incorrect because it does NOT fit existing science. Just like Galileo and Kopernicus he must recant to keep his grants, or be expelled from his scientific community. This book brilliantly documents that the mentality that persecuted Galileo and Kopernicus Several hundred years ago is still alive and well today. The book also provides a sober look at the chilling effect that financial grant organizations have on modern day research. A must read for any serious researcher, and any democratic person who believes in freedom of expression.

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful evidence in support of homoeopathy, 11 Oct 2000
By A Customer
This book had a major impact on my understanding of the science behind homoeopathy. The book reviews in some detail the experiments to date conducted on the 'memory of water' with a critical view. After reading this book I have gone on to have some fascinating discussions with medical professionals about the nature of clinical trials and 'evidence based medicine'. If you are studying the science of homoeopathy, you must read this book!
