Product Description

Product Description

This new reference provides practical guidance for managing the most frequently encountered problems in common small pet mammals--such as ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, rats, hamsters and other rodents. Individual sections discuss clinically relevant basic anatomy, physiology, husbandry, and behaviour for each group of animals. Chapters on individual body systems provide easy reference for managing specific diseases. Unlike others on the subject, this book addresses the diagnosis and treatment of individual pet animals rather than laboratory animal gourps. Readers will explore both medical and surgical management plus ways to maintain good health.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for 'small furry' medicine, 7 May 2006
As a vet student who likes 'small furries' I find this book invaluable and very interesting - I'd recommend it to any vet or vet student, really good value for money. Only drawback really is that it's american so a few things aren't particularly relevent, also remember their ferrets are much smaller than ours! Apart from that I would have given it 5 stars.
For non-vets - breeders, owners - who are particularly interested in the health of their animals, it is written in a pretty understandable way so still accessible for the layman.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very informative book., 18 Mar 2001
By A Customer
I found this book very interesting and most informative on the subject of rodents and their health. The layout of the book makes it easy to look up the information you require.
