Prepare children for a visit to hospital with Topsy & Tim, 22 Jun 2002
This book is an excellent way of preparing your child for a hospital visit. Children will suffer less stress and recover more quickly if they are well prepared for a visit to hospital and this book is an ideal way of talking through any fears or misconceptions they may have about hospital. Although many children will feel familiar with hospitals through TV shows like Casualty or Holby City, we rarely take the time to explain the details of what is happening on the screen and they may think that all the drama that happens there may happen to them! I work for Action for Sick Children (Scotland) a registered charity which has hospital playboxes, which we take to schools and nurseries, with real and play hospital equipment to help familiarise children with hospital routines, and hopefully suffer less stress from a hospital visit. This book is one of the most popular items in our boxes, well worth a read if you are about to visit hospital with the under 7's.
