4.0 out of 5 stars Steam Thrashing in the Cotswolds, 2 Feb 2005
An absolute riveting read, a wonderful journey and exploration through the steam thrashing industry. A much ignored topic that really is screaming for attention. I thoroughly enjoyed working through such pleasurable, informative pages. As a boy growing up in Dullmanston i have an itching interest, which was satisfied by this book. I reccomend it to any steam thrashing enthusiast to pass away the winter nights.

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful account but not comprehensive, 31 Jan 2005
By A Customer
Ever since the late nineteenth century, the Cotswolds has been at the centre of steam thrashing in England. While Mr Thexton provides a detailed account of the industry in the Northleach area I felt he could have extended this tome to cover other parts of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire which were just as important. Granted that Blackwell was the leading company in the area, but thre are 2 glaring omissions namely WH Smetherington & Sons based in Naunton and Obadiah Snode Ltd. All in all, however, a useful account of a much ignored industry.
