4.0 out of 5 stars Stories to inspire-Giant's Necklace from White Horse of Zenn, 28 Nov 2003
~ A story from the White Horse of Zennor -set in Cornwall, this story works on a deep level, yet is still accessible for all ages.

It has an imaginative use of description,e.g. the sea is a hungry grey monster, the tips of the waves are white horses galloping forward and as Cherry mines for shells, it gives clues about the story's development.

This story is gripping and it is one of those books you do not want to put down.It is completely absorbing.

One story revolves around Cherry and her family and provides a wonderful example of a family with a strong bond.Bringing ghosts into this story is a good idea, because it captures childrens imagination. In our Year 6 class we also discussed whether or not ghosts exist and how they might see the world of the living.

In writing a sad story Michael Morpurgo allows people to explore the idea that their lives may contain harsh events in the future. This story helps open discussion about how we may react to situations in life.

The author gives clues throughout the book as to how each story might link in the end ...yet he keeps you guessing!

Our Class recommend this book to:
Anyone who loves, or would like to find out about, the magic of Zennor.
People who enjoy stories about the natural and supernatural world.
