For die-hard All Saints/Appleton fans only, 3 Dec 2002

As a big All Saints fan, I was looking forward to read this book, even though I had doubts about its relevance. After all, both sisters are not even 30, which means this autobiography comes out quite at an early stage in their lives/career. Unfortunately, it shows. Indeed at least 1/3 of the book is filled with trivial details like detailed descriptions of clothes, drinking habits or their (famous) boyfriend's favorite meals and hobbies. I was expecting to read about their favorite color at some point. If you're into gossip/celebrity oriented magazines, you'll probably enjoy reading about these kind of details. However if you're expecting more deep thoughts or stories on their career as members of one of the most famous girl bands of the late 90s - like I was - you'll be disappointed. Same thing with the constant name-dropping throughout the book: it makes the whole content even more superficial. Of course if you're an All Saints fan, you'll find very interesting the Appletons's insight on All Saints' highs and lows. By far the best parts of the book, because we finally feel like we're learning something new about the sisters, the band, the industry. Unfortunately, this is not the book's main focus. Also, as a fan who followed the band's career since the beginning, I actually noticed a few obvious mistakes in the dates and events, which is somewhat disturbing given that the book was written by the girls themselves. Accuracy definitely wasn't a major concern to them. All this to say that I would recommend 'Together' to die-hard fans or people interested in light-hearted celebrity stories only. Otherwise, you may wanna ask for a refund...
