Product Description

Review

The scripts for this successful series in which Dawn French plays the buxom Rev Geraldine Granger are presented appropriately in small format "prayer-book" style and supplemented by information about the village of Dibley, its history and present inhabitants. It's a funny and original comedy idea and could have been fraught with problems in view of the controversy about the introduction of women priests. But Curtis seems to have negotiated that hurdle unscathed, as one would expect from an ace writer with Not the Nine O'Clock News, Mr Bean, Blackadder, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill to his credit. The book will be backed by a big marketing spend and publicity campaign, Dawn French and Emma Chambers (the dozy but desirable Alice) will be doing bookshop signings, and BBC1 is repeating the series in the run-up to Christmas.

Product Description

Dibley is a village in need of a new vicar and Geraldine Granger is that woman - "a babe with heaving bosoms". Meet the parishoners and fall in love with Dibley as the scripts of the television programme are published here in a "prayer-book" format.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very funny, humorous and a great read., 1 Jun 2002
By lenscap@hotmail.com (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I really enjoyed this book and found it very funny. You can't help but laugh out loud at some of the things which are said between the small cast. I am a fan of these comedy script type books. In a similar vein are the 'Dad's Army' and 'Only Fools and Horses' script books. Both very funny. Highly recommended.
