The world we know today has been shaped by radical ideas, heresies in their time, many stemming from an ancient tradition emanating from esoteric and occult Egypt, others from classical Greece, others from the vortex of Biblical thoughts, yet others from the spiritual Far East, as these have mingled and acted as intellectual catalysts --time bombs in some cases -- in the Renaissance, then through the Enlightenment, and then burst on the scene in the two great Revolutions that shook and changed the human social experiment forever. It is such a thrill to go back to its source and to sail forward again on its intellectual streams through these formative ages, dig deep under the rumble of history, delve into the strange motives and powerful forces that heaved like silent roots, sometimes breaking through the crust of lethargy and cultural control that from time to time gripped Western Europe and later the New World. It is even more thrilling to see how that mantle crust is being blown off again today, with even more vigour yet with different players and on a grander and more dangerous scale. Democracy, the liberated great-grand-child of this Hermetic-Gnostic tradition, is on the march, probably in the wrong hands, and the world is shaken, religious beliefs wanning in Europe, the Middle East is on fire, and the Mother of all Revolution in going on.
