This guidance book explains how to reduce the risks of fire on construction sites and the precautions that need to be taken to ensure people's safety should a fire occur. It is aimed at everyone with a role in management and application of fire safety standards during construction work. Divided into six sections, the book covers subjects such as reducing fire load and ignition sources; general fire precautions; emergency procedures; temporary accommodation units and sleeping accommodation. It also contains guidance on how to comply with the Construction (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996, which came into force on 2 September 1996.
