This is a revision of what is known as the "brown book". The text has been revised to update the information in line with the Health and Safety (Consultation With Employees) Regulations 1996. It contains codes of practice and guidance on the Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations 1977. The booklet is amied at employers, safety representatives and trade unions, and seeks to explain how safety representatives are appointed; set out their functions and their rights to time off with pay; and give guidance on the operation of committees.
