2.0 out of 5 stars Saving money if thinking of downshifting, 26 Feb 2004
By Gareth Lloyd (Munich, Germany) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
After reading some of the other reviews about this book, I thought it was the way for me. It is well written and easy to read, however, VERY short on information. There is nothing in this book I thought new, novel or pointed out something that even if pulling out of the mainstream has even crossed your mind for only half a second will not have already occurred to you. Most of the book is devoted to trying to save small amounts of money. My recommendation is to start this by not buying the book. Only the appendix in the back of useful organisations allowed to to gain the 2 stars, nothing else. In short, there is nothing in here to help you towards or sway you either way if you are thinking of moving on from your current position!

5.0 out of 5 stars Packed with common sense and fresh ideas, 28 Feb 2002
By Peter Van Der Linden "pvdl@afu.com" (Calif, United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I read a lot. A hell of a lot. I'm a type "A"
classic "driven" person at work and home. A friend
put me onto this book, and am I ever glad! It
probably saved me from an early heart attack.

Nick Corder puts it all in perspective: why are we
here, what are we trying to do, how should we do
it? Too many people chase material rewards. This book is packed with practical advice on how to stop chasing gold, and start making time for the really important things like your family, a balanced life, and peace of mind.

Thank you Nick Corder for writing down a fresh,
often funny, viewpoint that invites the reader to
really look at what's important in life.
Recommended on my reading list.
