Product Description
From the Publisher
The indispensable guide to the Small Claims' Court
The Small Claims court in England and Wales is designed to resolve disputes where the sum involved is £5000 or less.

The proceedings are informal, and lawyers do not normally appear because of the "no costs" rules. So litigants have to present their case in person.

This book covers the basic legal principals and processes involved and illustrates them via 18 case studies.

It shows you how you should try to settle your claim before it even reaches court.

It deals with how to enforce the judgement once you have won (how to get your money!).

Whether you are the claimant (plaintiff) or defendant, it steers you through the procedure.

From the Author
A lay person's guide to small legal claims
My book is a straightforward guide to making (or defending) a small claim. The amount of legal jargon is kept to a minimum. The book contains many case studies, sample letters and court forms to help illustrate the points in the text.

The areas covered in the book include: road traffic claims, consumer disputes, highway pothole cases and the recovery of debts. Although the procedure for making a small claim is explained, emphasis is also made of the importance of trying to settle before court action.

At the end of the book, there is a list of useful addresses where further information can be obtained.
