After an archeological holiday in Tunisia where one of the high points was walking inside the ruins of the 96 km long aqueduct from an ongoing natural mountain source (which could supply the capital Tunis and surrounding area today were it in good repair) our leader Dr. Denise Allen recommended the book by A.Trevor Hodge stating it was easy to read, fascinating, well set out and full of inspiring information about those clever Roman engineers, keen to bring clean water to everybody to drink and to bathe in. Money being no object, the results are astounding in terms of aqueducts. I am a lay person who enjoyed Robert Harris' 'Pompeii' for pure excitement which enticed me to learn more. I learned more from this book. My husband, an amateur archaeologist and an engineer by profession, really appreciated Trevor Hodge's great book. A pleasure to read. Maggie Goren
