5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent walks, 5 Jun 2009
Let me start with saying one thing. This is not a guide to take you along the route, there are no maps and you could get lost following some of his descriptions if you have not planned approriatly (as the author says in the preface).

Now that is out of the way this is an EXCELLENT book. The routes he has picked out have given me some of the best walking in the UK and I get out a lot. The routes are well thought out, presented in a way to let you choose the dificulty and get to some of the areas you may otherwise not visit. The scenrery on all these walks differes greatly so you get a good chance to see different faces of Great Britain and the views (weather permitting) are always breath taking.

The pictures in the book are very professional and will make you count the days untill you can get there yourself.

I cannot recomend this book enough, it is my bible to walking in the UK. Any hill lover should get it now.

last word on level of walks in the book. Most of the routes in the book could be done by anyone, some require a level of scrambling over rocks (1-3) but on quite a few walks this can be avoided. So it is probably not for those taking their first steps into the fells and mountains but once you have a small bit of experience (even jsut a few trips) (for example have been in the lakes high fells, or glyders in wales) then go for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful book, 26 Jan 2009

(REAL NAME)
This book is both a route guide and coffee table pictorial, the photography is that good. If this doesn't make you want to scale a few of Britain's ridges then nothing will.
