Product Description

Product Description

This guide begins with an explanation of the technical aspects that need to be considered, such as the best equipment to use for night and low-light photography, which films to choose, how to ensure correct exposure in tricky situations, and understanding natural and artificial light. Following a subject-by-subject format, the book then covers a range of different themes and lighting situations - from landscapes and portraits to buildings, funfairs and firework displays, to weather phenomena such as lightning, and candlelight, twilight, sunrise and sunset. The author explains how even the most inexperienced photographer can take successful shots on the very first attempt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-Rounded and thorough resource., 16 May 2003
This is an excellent book for anyone considering breaking into Low-Light Photography. It comes stacked with a range of chapters dealing specific subject types and a wealth of indispensable information. It arms any photographer to attempt the most adventurous shots. The frank and matter of fact writing style is also very refreshing in a world of maybes, which is always backed with actual guides, which I find myself copying into my little photo note book which I carry with me everywhere. I thoroughly recommend this book, possibly the best book I've purchased to date on Photography.

5.0 out of 5 stars Add to basket, 5 Jan 2005

Although my personal photographic library is not particularly extensive I have collected quite a large range of the more popular technical manuals. This book tops the list for me. Inspiring to any level of photographer or cinematographer, it would be worth the price of admission for the photos alone, let alone for the wonderful flowing writing style that Lee Frost so casually but eloquently employs.

Essential reading for anyone with more than a passing interest in photography of any desciption.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really usefull!, 22 Nov 2002

Wanting to do some low-light photography but not nowing where to begin? This is the book! It is filled with beatifull pictures that shows exactly what kind of exiting possibilities one have when dealing with low-light photography. How to use sparklers, torches, flash and candles to frame light and shaddow...

After reading the book I immediately took my Nikon F3 into a dark night with fog and produced some 4 brilliant pictures in an impossible environment. The book told me how to do it!

I would recommend this book to any photographer, be he amateur or pro.
