3.0 out of 5 stars Not for beginners, 4 April 2003

Since there were no reviews to go on, I bought this book hoping it would teach me to draw cartoons. However, this book assumes you are already confident in your drawing skills and merely offers advice on how to further improve your techniques. The info it offers is pretty good for someone who can already draw cartoons pretty well, but it's not for someone who is starting out. Use this book once you've mastered the basics!

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvellous book!, 4 Jun 2006
By E. Pacey "staticgirl" (Watford, UK) - See all my reviews

This book is fantastically useful. It's remarkably up to date(considering I bought it a few years ago) and includes using computers for digital techniques (I've only just got round to using some of the info from this section and it's been really useful) as well as more traditional forms of cartooning and comics. It also includes aspects such as setting up your workspace, drawing special effects and promoting your own work.

It looks at the full breadth of the industry and may give you ideas about where to take your style in addition to your primary interest. It only mentiones manga in passing but the skills in this book are completely transferable.

Well worth buying!
