Product Description
Synopsis
No less significant than the loftier and more renowned Munros (Scottish peaks over 3,000ft), this second challenging list of Scottish peaks - the Corbetts - was compiled by an Englishman, John Rooke Corbett. Long before he drew up his list mountaineers had sampled the delights of the grander peaks regardless of height, to which were added many a lonely height in the sprawling wastes of Sutherland and Ross-shire, the more isolated caims of the Grampians, the bold steeps of Morvern and Ardgour, the bald crowns of the Southern Uplands, and a scattering of island peaks. Irvine Butterfield has here drawn together a superb collection of photographs, with stunning introductory artworks from Paul Craven, that capture the essence of these most singular mountains, to create a wonderful record of every Corbett in Scotland.
