4.0 out of 5 stars very useful book, 19 Mar 2006
By C A Morris (Huddersfield, West Yorks United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I bought this book with no particularly high hopes but was delighted to find that Stan Smith was able to explain points of art theory and practice to me that had previously eluded me. Somehow Stan seems able to speak my language and although the text is short I feel I have learnt more from this book than many other longer ones! I also totally disagreee about the illustrations - the style of paintings in this book have been an inspiration to me. I shall be looking to buy more of Stan's books.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Rubbish, 6 Feb 2006
By Peter Holgate "p_holgate" (Lincolnshire) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this book, without the ability to view it's contents. I absolutely wished I hadn't wasted my money. The verbal instructions are just waffle and nothing the special, the visual guides and end results are absolute (expletive deleted) rubbish.
The only saving grace I can suggest is: Any absolute will find it a positive encouragement by knowing that they could paint better pictures with their eyes shut.
I've given it one star, as the system requires at least one to function, I can't give minus stars.
