This text presents a practical guide to two-day walking in Britain's most popular national park. The book provides a reference guide from which to explore the high fells and valleys of the region, as well as the more remote yet equally beautiful areas around the fringe. Each walk can be completed over a weekend with hotel, B&B, youth hostel or camp site available at the end of each day. Most of the routes are also based around public transport, to ease travel problems. Many of the walks are circular, while others make a point-to-point crossing of the Lake District. Each walk includes a route description with details of overnight accommodation and public transport, together with a detailed breakdown of walking distances, height gained, and the time required to complete each walk. Computer-generated maps provide easy reference.
