5.0 out of 5 stars A very comprehensive book on freelance photography., 22 Mar 2001
This is a must read for those photographers wanting to go freelance professionally. It is very easy to read and very comprehensive in its content. Most aspects of how to sell photos is discussed; including information on what markets to look for, sending submissions, what equipment to invest in, how to sell to magazines, newspapers, postcard and calenders, book publishers, how to exhibit, how to sell your own original work, copyright etc..

There is also some very useful information about tax, business and how to keep your own records, something which is required by law. However, the book does not mention about how to sell via the internet and promotion on a web-page etc.

I have owned the book for many years and still refer to it, even though I have read the print off the pages. It is still as good a read after all this time, and serves as a great reference guide. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Down to earth, practical and written from experience, 16 Aug 2002
By M. Halliday "hallidaymj" (Cheshire, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I confess I like Lee Forst's writing so I would select his book on a subject. My daughter has recently been doing photographic work for private clients, and exhebitions so the question about a 'business' quickly raises its head. Who owns copyright? How does copyright work, do yo need a model consent form?

Well Lee's book is a great help - almost a practical course / reference book in its own right. The thinking is clear, along with examples. Even moving from money making hobby to 'profession' is embraced.

I have only ever taken photos for pleasure, but have wondered when asked for copies should I put a copyright on the back? The answer is clear after reading the book.
