4.0 out of 5 stars Resource for worship leaders in Reformed Churches, 27 April 2002
By A Customer
This is a most useful resource for ministers (and others leading worship) in Reformed Churches. Although primarily intended for Church of Scotland ministers and readers, this book will be of interest internationally. It deliberately moves away from the archaic - though often beautiful - lanaguge of the previous Books of Common Order of 1979 and 1940. As well as prayers, it contains several outline services for Holy Communion, Baptism, weddings, funerals, baptisms and less frequent events (such as the dedication of new buildings). There is even a prayer for those involved in space research.

5.0 out of 5 stars book suitable for all denominations, 9 Dec 2005
By A Customer
This book has been written in english contemporary language and written biblically in the reformed worship tradition according to the scriptures, containing everything printed in full for each part of the service for ordinary time services, for the whole christian year, and for special occasion services. It includes first and second readings and the gospels written in full with the appropiate collects of the day for every section in alphabetical order, in summary: everything in this book has been printed in full for your convinience, reducing the need in having to turn to other parts of the book during the service, a book which suites the needs for congregational participation, and it's the only book of it's kind that you can get hold of.All the first and second readings of this book, including the gospels, have been taken from the revised common lectionary which is one of the best versions which is used for reading in church and it is reccomended by many churches all throughout the world.A book which is to have,to own and to use for many decades to come, coz of it's delightness and simplicity, you will love this book,go and buy it now,you won't be dissappointed with it 100%guaranteed,and it is suitable for all denominations,so it can be used no matter to the religion that you belong to,it is a book which has been created not only for the followers of the church of scotland, but for everybody in general.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good service book
This is the 2005 edition which uses contemporary English, although it would be very
good if we had the traditional 1940 edition back in print.
