5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book for students and new starters in media, 11 Jan 2001
Not only is this book geared toward the British markets, it also covers a diverse range of topics, as the title suggests. With a comprehensive list of references for: magazines, Web sites, trade unions and reference books it helps you to find that job. Tips on how to make contacts and gaining relevant qualifications are complemented by a short and useful glossary of media terms.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good introduction, 20 Jun 2007
By Robert Whitaker (Liverpool, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A good basic introduction into beginning a career in the British media, and a handy start point with many references to further information. but fatally lacking in many places. It informs you of the skills and knowledge you must have to work in each area, but often provides no guidance of how to go about gaining that skill or knowledge. Instead the book seems to assume you already have many of the industry specific knowledge, rendering the book of only limited assistance to anyone starting out.

Overall, a useful reference to make sure you tick the boxes.
