Lisa Tuttle begins by looking at the many different kinds of novels covered by these genres. The book then moves on to look at ideas, world-building, language, structure, short stories, writing for children and finding an agent. The book examines the co-authoring process and contains examples of correspondence between authors, charting the development of a story. It also provides authors with a real insight into how publishers work and contains illuminating interviews with editors.
About the Author
Lisa Tuttle taught a science fiction course at the City Lit College, part of London University, and has tutored on the Arvon courses. She was residential tutor at the Clarion SF writing workshop in Seattle, USA. She has published six novels and two short story collections. Many of her books have been translated into French & German editions. Her first book Windhaven - co-authored with George R. R. Martin - is due to be re-released by Orion in 2001.
