This is a good general introduction to the basics of writing children's books. It has practical information on dealing with editors and publishers and guidelines on the fairly strict layouts required for such books. If you're looking for creative inspiration and detailed advice on plot and character creation, this is not really the best place to find it, but it does give numerous pointers to authors and writers for further reading. A useful general introduction and reference book.
