There are chapters on eroticism in novels and poetry, a section on including humour in erotic fiction and on marketing and selling your work. The book includes many quotations and is written in a humorous tone. The author examines difficult questions such as what constitutes erotic fiction and what is pornography. Derek Parker is the editor of "An Anthology of Erotic Poetry" and "An Anthology of Erotic Prose". He is also the editor of "The Author"."

This is a rather academic and, ironically, straighlaced overview of the burgeoning erotica genre. Mr Parker has very strong views on the subject is is not afraid to show them. He has a rather snooty view of the more popular end of the market with disparaging comments on such organisations as Black Lace and Nexus.

Do not buy this book if you want a step by step guide to getting published or a list of contacts. Do buy this book if you want an interesting overview of the genre and you want to broaden your horizons.
