About the Author
Elizabeth Ewing wrote widely on fashion, her books including Everyday Dress, Dress and Undress and History of Children's Costume. Dr Alice Mackrell, a costume historian specializing in the history of fashion plates, is also the author of several books, including An Illustrated History of Fashion, Stoles and Scarves, Paul Poiret and Coco Chanel.
