Product Description
Synopsis
The Najdorf variation of the Sicilian Defence is one of Black's most exciting defences. Largely due to the example of former World Champion Bobby Fischer, it has been at the cutting edge of chess opening theory in recent years, and has become a favourite of counter-attacking players worldwide. This popular level guide to the aggressive Najdorf Sicilian is written by one of the world's leading contemporary exponents, using complete illustrative games to highlight the important ideas for both sides. Covering all of White's major responses, it is an ideal battle manual.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book on the najdorf, 21 Aug 2004
By Alastair Irving (Brampton, Cumbria United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I found this book a very useful and comprehensive guide to a potentially complex opening. Particularly helpfull is the author's inclusion of complete games rather than just pages of variations.

I was slightly disappointed that he did not discuss some of the sharper lines, EG the poisoned pawn or the Polugaevsky, but I apreciate his idea of sticking to the solid 7...Be7.

The indexes of games and variations at the back make this a useful reference work as well.
