Amazon.co.uk Review

Watch Out! is the hilarious but also frank and sometimes moving autobiography of one of Britain's most famous television stars, Jeremy Beadle. Jeremy writes honestly about his life beginning with his rare genetic disability, his illegitimacy and his less than illustrious academic career. He was in trouble from an early age for his pranks and practical jokes which inevitably ended in him getting hauled before headmasters and bosses alike. However, these jokes, which started out getting him fired, ended up providing him with a very lucrative career. Jeremy Beadle reveals the backstage secrets from some of his television shows: Game for a Laugh, Beadle's About and You've Been Framed. He also adds numerous stories about his celebrity friends, including, Terry Wogan, Rod Stewart, Bob Hoskins and even members of the Royal Family. Jeremy talks frankly about his family, the father he has never met and reveals why he has never married his long-term partner, Sue. He also explains how his big break came about at the age of 24 and how through his enthusiasm and determination he rose to being one of Britain's best known entertainers. Watch Out! is both funny and honest, revealing a man with a limitless love of life. --Pat Naylor

Product Description

Jeremy Beadle was born with a disease called Poland Syndrome, meaning that most of his first two years were spent in hospital. He was brought up in a poor, single-parent family in London. His big break came when Bob Monkhouse took him on to write for "Celebrity Squares". This is his autobiography.

5.0 out of 5 stars A RIPPING YARN!, 16 Sep 2009
By Ad Williams - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I found this book to be rip roaring fun, each of the 792 pages had me gasping for breath to keep back the laughter that was issuing from my mouth. His account of the mix up when taking Princess Di to the Savoy had them end up with The people's princess wrapping her gums around a savaloy in the back of Eamon Holmes' Vauxhall Cavalier. This book doesn't just chart the bewildering heights but also the awful, awful lows. Such as Beadle's aborted rap album with Nelson Mandella and his battles with a lifelong tic tac addiction.

9/10 (I deducted the 1 because there are numerous grammatical errors throughout.)

All in all, Mr. Beadle deserves a big hand from all of us. BRAVO SIR!

i found this book fabulous i really enjoyed it and the career advice may help too as i would like to go into the media the part that stands out for me is where he organised the bickershaw festival and his dealings with Chuck Berry and others many people put Jeremy Beadle down if they read this it would probably change their view as it did mine

5.0 out of 5 stars WATCH OUT...THERE'S A BEADLE BOOK ABOUT!, 18 April 2000
By A Customer
Beadle has made millions of people laugh with his hilarious wind-ups over the years.Who can forget that guy with the white van that got pushed into the water? Well, maybe some weren't all that good... This book discusses Beadle's rise to the top in style. As presenter of such classics as Game For A Laugh and of course Beadle's About he introduced his brand of wind-up to the world. We should all be thankful for such a comedic gift! He then went on to present that camcorder show which was quite good. He doesn't do that anymore though and his absence from our screens is a disgrace. This book made me realise how much I miss Beadle and it filled a gap for a short while. I am a fan of major personalities, and if you are too, please allow me to recommend the biographies of Eric Hall (a friend of Beadle), Greg Martin and Peter Stringfellow.
