4.0 out of 5 stars Very Impressive Debut, 15 Feb 2003
This review is from: Blindsighted (Paperback)
As indicated this is a first novel for this author - with the second 'Kisscut' also just released.

I was impressed with the engaging and easy style with which she writes - it is a gripping story, which holds your interest well. There are believable characters (including the victims) with whom one becomes involved very quickly and with no real effort.

The story is satisfyingly grisly in keeping with modern standards, and I feel this book would appeal to people who enjoy: Val McDermid, Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reichs, Boris Starling etc.

I look forward to reading the second instalment in this author's promising career.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellence from a new writer, 31 Oct 2002
By Lynne (London United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blindsighted (Paperback)
I picked this up not having a clue as to whether I would like it at all. The result is a great read - grabs you from the start. This put me in the mind of Boris Starling's 'Messiah'. The descriptions of the crimes committed were gory but credible. The story held you in suspense till the last pages. Can't wait for the next Karin Slaughter novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding debut novel, 30 Oct 2001
By Mitchy (England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blindsighted (Paperback)
Right from the get go, Karin Slaughter winds the tension up tight and drags you through the novel at breakneck speed. Not a book for the faint of heart, but definitely a must read for all those who love a well-crafted mystery, with characters you care about even when they're not especially likeable. A step ABOVE Patrica Cornwell, in my opinion, and a worthy addition to any bookshelf.
